Selwyn Seniors

Selwyn Seniors is a group for over 65’s. A morning of gentle exercise, fun and friendship with a varied programme. An enjoyable morning tea is included. A donation is appreciated. Transport available.

SPACE

SPACE for you and your baby is a parenting programme aimed at mainly first time parents of newborn babies. Sessions are held over three terms in a relaxed, baby-friendly atmosphere. Our vision for SPACE is “empowering and encouraging parents to support the development of the whole child in their first year of life”. SPACE seeks to create a friendly environment where all parents and children are valued and supported. We encourage parents to foster their relationship with their baby, and to grow in their new role as parents, as they learn tools to grow and nurture their baby. SPACE provides early education for babies and parents as well as support for families and strengthening of communities.

Each week our activities include the following:

  • Informal time of welcoming, relaxing & interaction
  • Songs, music/movement, rhymes and books
  • Discussion on the topic of the week, such as:
  • Becoming a Parent; Reflective Parenting; See Me Move; Understanding Temperament; Establishing Attachment
  • Opportunities for play throughout the session, including heuristic play, playfulness and tactile experiences
  • Social time
