A church working for our growing and diverse community

Introduction

St Paul’s in the Park Church’s new complex, incorporating The Park Community Centre, is a vibrant, inclusive hub serving Flat Bush and the surrounding communities. Open to all, The Park has hosted a diverse range of groups and activities since opening in August 2025, reflecting the cultural, social and spiritual richness of South/East Auckland.

Our Vision

We, the church known as St Paul’s in the Park, have a vision to be a vibrant hub of our community. Our vision is to establish, alongside the spiritual activities of the church, a presence in the community as both a provider of services and facilities and as a community leader.

The focus of this vision will be the new Church and Community Centre complex.

We aim to foster a welcoming environment where individuals, civic and other groups can gather, learn, and contribute to the health of our Ormiston and Flat Bush Community.’

We have to be a living part of our community

Our Promise

The Park supports the community through four key pathways that reflect the diverse needs of our community: Spiritual, Wellbeing, Community Services and Social.

Spiritual: The Park is home to seven Christian denominations, sharing space for worship, fellowship and faith-based activities. This collaborative model celebrates unity and diversity within our wider church community.

At the heart is our Anglican worship, the congregation reflecting the diversity of our local community. Singing is certainly a feature of our worship. Services are recorded, edited and sent out via YouTube to a wide range of viewers.

In the planning stages are Mainly Music, an Alpha course and a Bible study group.

Wellbeing: Programmes include Yoga, Zumba, Korean dance, Martial Arts, and a youth group that promotes physical and mental health for people of all ages.

Together, these pathways position The Park as a cornerstone of community connection, care and collaboration in South/East Auckland.

Community Services: The Park partners with organisations to deliver meaningful support, including NZ Blood Donation drives, Zonta, senior citizens’ groups such as Selwyn Seniors, Aged Concern, Probus and U3A, and important health initiatives. Recent events have included health expos for East Auckland Health Services and women’s wellbeing activities such as Pink Breakfasts and Women’s Health Expos in collaboration with Tamaitai o le Moana and PACIFICA Inc.

In the pipeline are conferences for ECM Church, Botany Lutheran Church, Couple for Christ, PACIFICA Inc and Heartfulness, as well as art classes.

Social: The centre comes alive with weddings, funerals, birthday celebrations, family events and cultural gatherings. These moments of connection help create a strong sense of belonging and shared identity.

Together, these programmes reflect our vision and intent to be a place where community, care and connection thrive. Whether people come to worship, celebrate, exercise, learn or serve, The Park is a place for everyone.
